Getting Started…

I’ve been mulling over the perfect first post…and while this isn’t really the prefect introduction I NEED to start somewhere!

My family has been re-vamping our diets over the past year or so and although we’re not perfect ( and certainly won’t claim to be) we are making a greater effort to eat healthier…heard that before? Sound vague? Well for my family of four, two little ‘uns and two big ‘uns, we have a couple rules that we are adamant about…

  • NO high-fructose corn syrup
  • NO MSG and
  • NO aspartame, splenda, artificial sugars etc.

We’ve learned that by doing so we feel better, we’re less tired and fuzzy eyed (as my hubby likes to say). Our sleep habits are better and our children are calmer and more respectful. We truly feel that by doing just these few things we are better; physically & mentally.

We’ve also joined a produce co-op where we receive about 40+/- lbs of fresh fruits and veggies every other week and we make sure all is eaten! We do our best to buy organic and natural products. I recently discovered that I am gluten intolerant…NOT fun, but very eye opening!

Now, I love to blog surf and I’m addicted to coupons…so with these hobbies I have gained a lot of valuable insight. I’ve hear much talk in the blogging world about writing companies and receiving coupons in return for comments and questions…I’ve recently begun contacting companies that offer organic and gluten free products and basically ask if they offer any coupons…. and so far I am very pleased with the response!

Today I contacted the following companies:

  1. Newmans’ Own
  2. Honest Kids
  3. Shamrock Farms

FYI -all of these companies currently do offer a coupon or two on their websites, but my favorite health food store does not accept internet printable coupons.

Thanks for enduring an awkward first post, it’ll get better I promise! Stay tuned for more on being:
